The Last Slaughterhouse
On the day they closed the last slaughterhouse
A little flower bloomed
It opened it’s petals and shone to the sun
And in a world of Peace it grew
It grew to the voices that had never before sung
It grew to the laughter that had never before rung
It grew in a world more than ever like home
When the last slaughterhouse had closed
On the day
they closed the last slaughterhouse
A sad weeping heart cried no more
It opened up wide and it shone to the sun
And in a world of Peace it soared
It soared to the magic that true love can bring
It soared to the wisdom that compassion sings
It soared to heaven’s above and below
Once the last slaughterhouse was closed
When they
closed the doors the silence began
The soft gentle hush of the dawn
That final little click rang the end of the din
That tortured everyone
And at last we could listen to the sound of our hearts
And the soft gentle hush of the wind
As it coarsed through our sinews and twitched in our toes
And brothe into our spirits again
We discovered ourselves and each other again
On the day
they closed the last slaughterhouse
A baby child was born
She opened her eyes and she shone to the sun
And in a world of Love she soared
Now she’s never known anguish she’s never known fear
She’s never known lies or deceit
All she knows is the love of a world without guilt
All she knows is peace
We’ve given her what she deserves
We’ve given her peace
She’s grown to the voices that had never before sung
She’s grown to the laughter that had never before rung
She’s grown in a world more than ever like home
Now that the last slaughterhouse is closed
On the day
they closed the last slaughterhouse
A little flower bloomed
From Home
"The Last Slaughterhouse" is meant to depict what our
world could (and as I believe, would) be once we closed all the
slaughterhouses. |
