Eastern Shore Sanctuary & Education Center A sanctuary that provides a haven for hens and roosters who have escaped or been rescued from the poultry and egg industries or other abusive circumstances. Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary A 400 acre non profit animal sanctuary located in Poolesville Maryland. They offer care, rehabilitation and permanent sanctuary for neglected, abandoned and unwanted farm animals. They also provide protected habitat for wildlife, furnish information to the public regarding farm animal and wildlife issues and promote compassion and humane treatment for all animals.

Grateful Acres Animal Sanctuary A sanctuary established for the purpose of providing lifetime care for animals with special needs. The animals include those who are elderly or handicapped, who have endured cruelty or neglect, or who were victims of factory farming.  A secondary goal is to educate people about vegetarianism and a cruelty-free lifestyle.

Their shelter takes in animals that are rescued from cases of abuse, neglect and abandonment. It is a place where visitors can come face to face with the animals that most call “dinner” and learn about the devastating effects of modern-day agribusiness on the animals, the environment and human health.
