Ted Leo

Born Theodore F. Leo on September 11, 1970. He is an American musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has been in many bands, including Citizens Arrest, Chisel, the Sin Eaters, the Spinanes, and Ted Leo & the Pharmacists. He also works as a solo performer. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in English. You can find his website at this link.

He has been vegetarian since 1988 and vegan since 1998. He talks about being vegan to PETA2:

Quotes by Ted Leo:

"Veganism has become less a daily choice that I make than just me. It's a fundamental part of who I am."
When asked what made him switch from being vegetarian to vegan, he answered:
"After about ten years of being vegetarian for a whole host of reasons that people tend to make that choice, the driving force was that I couldn’t justify not being vegan. To a certain degree, once I’d made that decision to be a vegetarian and live with that for ten years, a lot of the less personal, more political/economic/animal rights reasons didn’t really justify not being vegan for me. Just seemed like too much of a half-step."
"The main thing that keeps me vegan is the question of animal rights. It's the one constant that is always at the core of it all for me. I love animals—what can I say?"
"If you put a little bit of effort into learning how to eat correctly, you can make it through even the toughest times. Like touring in Spain—love it to death but it ain't exactly what you'd call 'veganfriendly.' But again, you can always figure it out."

Quotes are from his 2011 interview with Eater and his 2008 interview with the Vegetarian Resource Group.
