Liberty Phoenix
Born Libertad Mariposa Bottom on July 5, 1976. She is
an American musician and business owner and the sister of River,
Rain, Summer
and Joaquin. She has sung backup
vocals for
Papercranes,
a band that features her sister
Rain as singer and for which her sister Summer
occasionally plays piano/keyboards.
She is a vegan and the founder of
INDIGOGreen, a Green Building Supply Store, based in
Gainesville, Florida. The store focuses on
environmentally friendly and non-toxic building materials, home
products and gift items. She started this
business after the loss of her 2 1/2 year old baby, Indigo, who
died from toxic outgassing in his nursery. She didn't want
another mother to have to
experience what she went through.
About her business
INDIGOGreen, she said:
| "INDIGO
is everything that you need to create an environment, whether
it's commercial or home. And everything that we carry is
non-toxic. We research our products from start to finish. We
carry everything from roofing materials, flooring, countertops,
adhesives, hot water heathers, you name it. Pretty much
everything that you need. Our main focus and priority is that
all of it is non-toxic. ... We don't carry anything that has
chemicals in it." |
|
|
"I decided that no one should ever have to go
through what I went through. That if I could be in any way,
shape, or form a help, then that would be the legacy I knew." |
|
| "Question what you think you
know, before you do it. ... Do your research. ... What is out
there, sadly without you knowing, is extremely detrimental to
you and your families health. It might not be something that is
obvious. A lot of times it is very hidden or is even marketed in
a way that looks like it's healthy and says "natural" on it.
"Natural" is not governed by anything. So really be weary, think
outside the box and do research before you make any decisions." |
|
| "Stop using toxic chemicals." |
Other quotes by Liberty Phoenix:
| "Both of my parents raised me vegan and have taught me to love
and respect the Earth through not eating animals, recycling,
organic gardening, conserving resources and doing all I can on a
daily basis to help reduce my impact." |
