Peace In Every Bite…. A Vegan Cookbook with Recipes for a Healthy Lifestyle is the result of forty years of experimentation with vegetarian and vegan cooking and baking; containing more than 500 recipes, (including international cuisine) six pages of colour photos, and many suggestions for living a peaceful, sustainable way of life.

I was born in Toronto, Canada, and have lived in the U.S. for forty years. I now live in the mountains of New Mexico with my husband Tomas and cats Karma and Zen, in an off the grid home, (powered by the sun and wind) which we designed and built ourselves, and where I am constantly creating new vegan recipes. Our lives revolve around sustainable and self-sufficient practices (including extensive organic and vegan grown vegetables, fruit and herb gardens) with the intent of living lightly on the Earth.

I was drawn to healthy foods and alternative lifestyles in the late nineteen sixties, being first inspired by Gandhi, Henry Thoreau, J.I. Rodale and Helen and Scott Nearing. I’ve homebirthed, homesteaded and was a homeschooling mom for twenty years. Some of my life experience has included; managing a natural foods co-op store, a Naturopathic healing practice, and for five years I hosted monthly women’s moon lodges and vegan potlucks. I’m also an herbalist, fiber and mosaic tile artist and self taught green/feng shui architect.

Peace in Every Bite also contains charts, many tips, inspiring quotes, sections on herbs, solar and wood cooking, sprouting, home canning, altitude adjustments, wheat free, weight control, travel tips, raising healthy children and pets, personal care and household cleaning products (and much more.) From the outside cover to the inside photos, recipes, tips and food sources this cookbook is informative, creative and downright special. It's alive with the spirit of the author - thorough, life embracing and practical. The novice vegan as well as the experienced will find endless recipes in local and international cuisine including soups and salads, entrees, side dishes, canned goods, baked goods and desserts. This book goes beyond diet with suggestions for cultivating and maintaining a healthy vegan life-style, rejoicing in living in harmony with the planet. Bravo!

Reviewer: Marina from Ontario, Canada:

I love this Vegan cookbook because it combines new recipes with old time favorites. The pictures are enticing and mouth watering. The added health information I found very interesting and useful. I like the fact that the book itself is large enough that it stays open when attempting to create a recipe. The recipes are easy to follow and the diagrams are helpful. The cinnamon rolls are one of my favorites as they are so tasty and a real hit at the cottage. Most of these recipes I have tried and they have all have turned out great, but I am eager to try more. Even my vegan-doubting-meat-eater-husband can testify that the recipes in this book are delicious. I highly recommend this cookbook!
