Vegan in 30 Days: Get Healthy. Save the World. by Sarah Taylor

Sarah Taylor has been vegan since 2002, after reading Diet for a New America by John Robbins. She wrote this book to help people become vegan in a healthful, fun and successful way. She gives a lot of great practical tips and has also includes some starter recipes for easy-to-make dishes. The book is set up in a way that you can either transition to a vegan diet in 30 days, or take 30 days for each phase - whatever is most comfortable for you.

The Vegan Sourcebook by Jo Stepaniak

This great book is a "complete guide to the vegan principles that advocate harmony, justice, and compassion for all living beings". The author describes how Veganism is much more than just avoiding animal-based products and explains in great detail the environmental, health and compassion issues. A recipe section is includes by this author of many vegan cookbooks.

Vegetarians and Vegans in America Today by Karen and Michael Iacobbo

This book is written by two journalists and highlights the history of vegetarianism and veganism in America. It also discusses the current relevance of these lifestyles, their popularity, and health studies about their benefits. The book also offers a view into both the unity and diversity of the vegetarian and vegan community.
